Jo Daviess County Country Fair Charities Awards Grants

GALENA, IL – Jo Daviess County Country Fair Charities, Inc., (JDCCFC) awarded $41,383.05
to 27 Jo Daviess County not-for-profit organizations at the third annual JDCCFC grant presentation held June 15 at The Irish Cottage Boutique Hotel.  The volunteer organized not-for-profit, JDCCFC,
is a fundraising body with a mission to facilitate and assist charitable causes throughout Jo Daviess County.

An additional $23,701.43 in proceeds from the 2005 Galena Country Fair have been distributed to
the following not-for-profit organizations: $16,350 to 15 Jo Daviess County parishes and organizations that supplied workers for the 2005 fair, $300 to the Galena Police Department, $300 to Galena Area Emergency Medical Services, and $6,751.43 to the City of Galena which was equal to half of the
2005 Galena Country Fair gate receipts. The grants and donations contributed from the 2005 fair
total $65,084.48.

Held in picturesque Grant Park overlooking historic Galena, Illinois, the Galena Country Fair is a Columbus Day weekend tradition. The 2006 Galena Country Fair will be held October 7-8 and feature the work of more than 150 artists and crafters.  The fair boasts original handcrafted work including quality baskets, birdhouses, floral items, folk art, jewelry, metal work, paintings, photographs, pottery, stained glass, wood items, wreaths and more.  Both days of the fair include a farmers’ market, children’s games and prizes, a raffle, a wide variety of fair food and beverages, and live musical entertainment.
