What types of vendors are accepted to exhibit at
Galena Country Fair?
The fair accepts applications from vendors exhibiting original
handcrafted work in
three categories: crafts, country crafts, and
fine arts.
What type of work qualifies in each category?
Examples of appropriate products for each category are as follows:
Country Crafts - needlework, dried flowers, wreaths, dolls,
stuffed animals, quilts,
small wood items, baskets, etc.
Crafts - stained glass, weaving, woodworking, metalworking,
clothing, pottery, jewelry, etc.
Fine Arts - sculpture, oils, acrylics, batik, watercolors,
photography, pen and ink prints,
lithographs, etc.
Are prizes awarded?
Yes, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes are given in each vendor
category
(country crafts, crafts and fine arts).
Does all work I display need to be handmade?
All work entered in the Galena Country Fair must be original and handcrafted.
Any exhibitor displaying manufactured items will be asked to leave the
fair and
will not be invited to return.
How many people attend Galena Country Fair?
Approximately 8,000-10,000.
How big are your vendor booths?
10x10 and 10x12 booths are available.
When is the deadline for vendors to apply to
galena Country Fair?
Applications are accepted each year from October 15 to March 31.
Applications must
be received by March 31 to be considered for the
following year's fair.
What do I need to submit to apply to the fair?
A completed Galena Country Fair application, 3-5 photos or your work
(vendor name must be
written on back of each photo), a check or
money order for $225 (the vendor fee) made payable
to Jo Daviess
County Country Fair Charities, Inc., a large (legal size)
self-addressed, stamped envelope, a completed City of Galena itinerant merchant
form, a $15 check or money order
payable to the City of Galena and a
copy of your Illinois tax number certificate.
Why do you need two checks?
Once accepted as a Galena Country Fair vendor, the check
payable to Jo Daviess County
Country Fair Charities, Inc., will be
cashed to pay for your booth vendor fee. The $15 check
payable to
the City of Galena, will be forward to the city along with your
completed Itinerant
Merchant form.
How long before I know if I'm accepted into the fair?
Acceptance letters will be mailed by April 30th.
When are my checks cashed?
Checks are held until vendors are selected. Selected vendors'
checks are cashed in April;
photos are returned to those vendors at
vendor check-in the weekend of the fair. If a vendor
is not chosen,
his or her checks and photos will be returned in April.
What is the procedure for adverse weather?
The fair is held rain or shine. There is no rain date or
alternate indoor site. History has
shown that Galena Country
Fair customers are a hearty and loyal group
Do you provide electricity?
No electricity is provided. Generators are not allowed.
Where can I park?
Vendors may park in the City of Galena's lot located near the
Old Train Depot
Visitor Information Center.
Where can I load and unload?
Vendors may load and unload on the Grant Park side of Park
Avenue.
Is there help to transport my product to my
booth in Grant Park?
You may hire someone on-site to transport your product once
you arrive.
If I sell out of product, may I break my
booth down early?
No, vendors may not break down his or her booths until the end of
the fair on Sunday.
Breaking down a booth early may disqualify you
from being accepted for future fairs.
